Lisa Berube Wilson

Lisa Berube Wilson was born in Waterville Maine and grew up in the Fairfield/Waterville areas, graduating from Lawrence High School and then from the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Lisa's grandparents were of Micmac, Maliseet and French decent from the regions of Maniwaki, Quebec and Edmundston, New Brunswick Canada. In the 1920's they immigrated to the United States settling in the northern Maine area where her parents were born.

 

Lisa has been interested in writing since childhood and many of her poems derive from nature, private prayer/meditation times and dream time. Lisa claims she has never actually sat down to write a poem in a standard way. "I have to wait until the words come to me so I try and keep a pen and paper handy everywhere. Whenever I think there are no words inside of me, suddenly there they are. I am always amazed at the mind of the spirit, with its mysteries and humor which always keeps the next chapter of life a challenging one."
